When comparing VoIP phone systems, both Ooma and Vonage provide user-friendly tools and sophisticated capabilities, such as video conferencing and auto-attendants. Ooma takes the lead by providing more support for real offices and more services per subscription than Vonage. Vonage, on the other hand, excels in integrations and collaboration tools that assist remote teams.

Ooma is the best overall value for the money.

At first appearance, Ooma and Vonage appear to be similar in price. Both have a low-cost entry-level plan. Both provide an entry-level plan that costs less than $20 per month per user. Despite the fact that Ooma does not offer volume savings like Vonage, it is less expensive for one to four users, regardless of subscription tier. A mid-tier package is also less expensive for teams of five to 19 people.

Ooma’s plans provide more features at practically every price point, including an auto-attendant on the basic plan and call recording on the Pro plan for $24.95 per user, per month. Call recording is only available with Vonage’s Advanced package, which costs over $14 more than Ooma Pro (limited to 15 hours). It’s also available as an add-on option that adds $4.99 to your monthly payment. Similarly, Vonage’s mobile plan does not include a virtual receptionist.

One caveat: Vonage is less expensive if your organization has five or more employees who require basic mobile phone coverage. In comparison to $19.95 with Ooma, you’ll pay $14.99 to $17.99 per user, each month. With Vonage’s entry-tier package, a team of 20 workers can save roughly $99 per month.

Because Vonage charges extra monthly fees for faxing and paging, brick-and-mortar businesses that employ overhead paging systems or faxing services may prefer the Ooma Office plan. Neither provider offers annual billing reductions, which are common with other popular business phone systems such as RingCentral and 808.

Ooma is the best communication channel.

In terms of communication channels, Ooma has a little advantage over Vonage because it offers unlimited calling to Puerto Rico It is a superior solution for commercial, industrial, and retail applications because overhead paging is a standard feature. To broadcast an announcement using desk phones, Vonage charges $4.99 per month per paging group extension. Local paperless fax costs $14.99 per month, but Ooma includes it with all subscriptions.

Call parking, ring groups, music on hold, and call blocking are all common features of Vonage and Ooma services. We like Ooma since all of its plans feature a virtual receptionist, whereas the Vonage Mobile bundle does not.

Another benefit of Ooma is the free toll-free line. With online purchases and a one-year contract, Vonage delivers a main, local corporate number. For $49.99 per month, you can get a toll-free number with unlimited minutes.

If your company is focused on digital communication, Vonage’s mobile plan includes team messaging, while premium options include video conferencing. Ooma only offers instant chat at enterprise rates, but its Office Pro service, which is identical to Vonage Premium, includes video conferencing. With that said, both systems are among the best VoIP services for small businesses.

Vonage is the best for collaboration.

Because Vonage provides the popular team messaging feature, the Ooma versus Vonage argument has a clear winner for distant team communication. Instant messaging is available on Ooma’s enterprise services, which are reasonably priced. However, when compared to Vonage, the platform is less mature. Your team may share files or transition from a chat to a call with one click with Vonage.

Higher video and audio conferencing meeting restrictions are also supported by Vonage. Unlike Ooma, Vonage meetings will be able to accommodate more participants, and unlike Ooma, they will not be limited to two hours. While researching Ooma vs Vonage business systems, we found that both Vonage and Ooma are simple to set up and install. Both firms have installation wizards to walk you through the setup procedure, and you may call them if you have any questions. Depending on the number of users, Vonage takes less than 10 minutes to set up. Ooma claims that setting up its phone system should take less than 15 minutes.

In addition, if you add hardware to your order, Ooma will preconfigure and ship your devices to your business within 24 hours. Simply plug in your desk phones once they arrive, and they’re ready to use. Although Vonage sells hardware, it’s unclear whether they pre-provision these devices for you.

When it comes to mobile apps, we prefer Vonage’s more modern interface to Ooma’s. It’s a little easier to use than Ooma’s app, and it gets better reviews overall. For mobile-first or mobile-only users, a great app makes all the difference.

Vonage is the best for integrations.

If you wish to combine your company phone system with third-party services, Vonage is without a doubt the best option. The Mobile plan includes more than 20 connectors, including Google and Microsoft calendars, but customer relationship management (CRM) integrations with ConnectWise, Zendesk, and Zoho require the Premium package. Some integrations, such as Bullhorn, are paid extra, with monthly prices ranging from $4.99 to $9.99.

On its small business tiers, Ooma does not provide any integrations. Instead, the Ooma Enterprise or Call Center bundles are required. Ooma interacts with Salesforce, Zendesk, ServiceNow, and Microsoft Dynamics at this level. Both providers have APIs, but only Ooma’s enterprise plans include them.

Vonage also provides a special facility for inboxes for business numbers. Employees may send and receive Facebook messages through the Vonage app thanks to an integration with Facebook Messenger.

Vonage is the best for call analytics.

It provides graphical call summary reports, and you can get more information by looking at the segments of each call based on their status in call queues and groups. Additionally, advanced filters can be used to display data for extensions, duration, or voicemails, as well as a rapid overview of general statistics for your most active as well as inactive lines.

You can download, print, or email the reports from Vonage. You’ll also be able to save frequently used reports and have them delivered to your inbox on a predetermined schedule. Ooma does not allow you to schedule or email them. It does, however, allow you to download a CSV file or a chart. For small businesses with low to medium call volumes, Ooma is more than adequate.
