New spot for Crush, Y&R, and the Canadian Mint

posted October 17th, 2011

We were approached way back when it was cold, about a project for the Mint, promoting the design of their new coins. Yoho, Julia and Gary were thrilled to work on the project, partially because it was a chance to work with the team at Y&R (Joe & Darcy, Francheska & Marcelo, & Jac), and partially because the spots were so well suited to what we do. Crush worked with the agency closely from the beginning, producing fully realized pieces to help bring the clients through the process. “Parks” began in July and was delivered at the end of September with Yoho leading the project. Julia designed the end mnemonic and CG animation was added by Leo and Josh. The project allowed us to create something really beautiful, and illustrative that celebrates the beauty of the country. We looked to the National Film Board for reference, as well as the work our designers have done on their own in the past. It was a dream project and we’ll be really sad when it’s over.

Maybe you should check it out too.  It is still running at Oz Studios until October 15th. For more info click here!

We picked up a little hardware last week at the Bessies for the work that we did, funnily enough, for last year’s ADCC Awards.  The Love/Hate piece that we did for Leo Burnett won Gold Online Single and we also took home a Craft Award for Compositing and another for Special Effects.  Congrats to all who worked on the piece with us.  And for the record… we LOVE it!

Happy Birthday CRUSH!!!

posted May 17th, 2011

In honour of our birthday we decided to feature some of our faves from over the years.  12 years ago we opened the doors on Wellington.  We had a VHS tape cutting ceremony and started on the long road.  Thanks everyone who came through these doors and contributed their energy, passion, humour and creativity.  And everyone else who brought the cash to keep us going.  We love 95% of you.  Not a bad average, really.

Congrats to Chris Minos (and Jack Layton too, I guess)
