One of the advantages of being so neighbourly is that we get access to amazing talent. Crush is very pleased to have Dan Kelly’s monster vfx skills available to share with our friends and clients. Dan has a long and illustrious career in commercial vfx for someone so young. Dan started in London with The Moving Picture Company (MPC), and has since worked in New York at RhinoFX & Smoke & Mirrors and in Montreal where he started the highly regarded post boutique, Motor. Being a man of many talents, he has set up his own transfer boutique, The Faculty, here in Crush. When not creating beautiful transfers, Dan will be working with our team of talented Flame artists. Check out Dan’s work here, or better yet, come in and work with him.
CRUSH WELCOMES DAN KELLY!
The Faculty

In the spirit of the times, Crush is all about collaboration. Starsky and Hutch, Butch and Sundance, Crockett and Tubbs, Mentos and Diet Coke, great things happen when you put two things together. We are happy to welcome The Faculty to the third floor here on Wellington street. The Faculty is a stand alone transfer boutique providing colour grading services to the advertising, music video industry and, well, anyone who needs pictures coloured. The Faculty is the brainchild of multi-talented Dan Kelly, previously of Motor. Drop in to The Faculty’s web site to read all the details put much more eloquently than we can here, or contact our own Jo-Ann Cook who is also much more eloquent.

Children’s Wish Foundation
KBS+P Toronto came to us with a lovely little story for the Children’s Wish Foundation. A true story involving a family, a child’s life threatening illness and the joy Children’s Wish brought to their lives. The creative team, copy writer Cristina Simonetto and art director John Roberton developed a wonderful, gentle script and looked for an animation team to work with.
The Crush team jumped on the opportunity to take the team’s poignant story and bring it to life. We wanted the film to be a children’s story brought to life. Crush’s Julia Deakin designed Emily and all the characters, and worked with Yoho Yue and Jullian Ablaza to bring Emily’s world to life.
Jullian worked with talented illustrators, Ashley Barron and Flavia Lopez to create the world using a mix of paper and other media.
Yoho Yue and Joel Tellier rigged and animated the characters, with subtlety and sensitivity to Emily’s story.
Apollo Music’s team took the pictures and added a beautiful, haunting score.
Everyone who touched the project was profoundly moved by Emily’s story and are so proud of the final piece.
Thanks to Julie Poirier and Bryan Ritchie at Church and Dwight, the makers of Gravol for helping make the project a reality, and the producers Claire Cashman at KBS+P, Janice Rebelo at Crush, for getting it done.
